iciHaiti – Phantom 509 : A DINEPA vehicle set on fire
In a note, the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) vehemently condemns the burning of one of its vehicles at Carrefour airport by heavily armed men claiming to be part of the “Phantom 509” Group.
The burned-out vehicle transported staff for maintenance and repair work on networks in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
The General Directorate emphasizes “at a time when the financial support of international donors to DINEPA is decreasing year after year, such barbaric acts risk jeopardizing the continuity of drinking water services at the national level.”
DINEPA asks everyone to help it do its job, by not targeting the physical integrity of its employees.
“If such actions continue, DINEPA could be forced to reduce or even stop the entire service, so as not to mortgage its infrastructure and even less its staff,” concluded the note.
