Haiti – Politic : High-level meeting on the production and delivery of the CIN
Monday as part of the forthcoming organization of the referendum and general elections, President Jovenel Moïse chaired in the premises of the National Identification Office (ONI), a high-level meeting with the actors involved in the process of production and delivery of National Identification Cards (CIN).
During this meeting it was decided to strengthen the “task force” on the registration of citizens in order to enable the populations of the 146 communes spread across the 42 districts and 10 geographical departments of the country, not yet registered, as soon as possible to be able to obtain their birth certificate followed by their national identification card. As part of this process, the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Collectivities plans to meet the 572 presidents of the municipal section boards of directors (CASEC) in order to involve them more in the process of registering the populations living particularly in the most remote areas of the country in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic.
At the end of this meeting, the Head of State declared “I have just had a high-level meeting with the actors involved in the process of production and delivery of CINs, as part of the forthcoming organization of the referendum and general elections. I remind the Nation that I will not be a candidate in these elections […] My Administration is working tirelessly to organize the referendum and to renew, this year, the political staff through credible elections. […] ONI is hard at work across the country to enable the Haitian population of voting age to acquire the National Identification Card. The Government guarantees that the process will be completed on time.”
