President Moïse spoke with the Emir of Qatar
On Monday Jovenel Moïse had a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheik Tamim Ben Hamad Al-Thani. Various subjects were discussed including the Guarantee Fund to finance SMEs, the possibilities of investing in renewable energies and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
Release of a 9-year-old hostage
Kidnapped last October 14 in Démélus, a popular neighborhood of Port-de-Paix, Jouvens Telfort, a 9-year-old child, was released by the police during an operation carried out on Saturday October 17 in the morning in Baudin (1st communal section). Two of the alleged kidnappers, Baby Jean (22) and Jephté Mazard (a repeat offender according to police) have been arrested.
Health : Service contract for police officers
On Monday, Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe and officials of the Bernard Mevs Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a service contract to the benefit of the police. Denial of the PAP prosecution
On Monday, Me Ducarmel Gabriel, the Commissioner of the Government of Port-au-Prince, denied the rumors suggesting that the prosecution had been burgled and the file on the assassination of Me Monferrier Dorval had been stolen claiming “There is nothing true in this story, we weren’t robbed.”
Haiti’s growth forecasts, unrealistic for the World Bank
Martin Rama, Chief Economist of the World Bank for the Latin America-Caribbean region, underlined the big difference between the growth forecasts for the Haitian economy of the World Bank (between +1.1 and 1.2% ) and those of the Haitian Ministry of Finance + 2.4% a forecast that he considers unrealistic while Haiti is emerging from a year of significant recession (-3.6%).
